on a whim, i decided to potty train eloise last week! i had been thinking about it & knew that i would conquer it in the coming weeks, sometime over the summer when my mom is off work from teaching & i would have some help with the other girls. honestly though, it was just weighing on me. i knew it was inevitable, i thought she was ready & i just wanted to get it done before summer so that we can enjoy! & also avoid swim diapers, which are a major pain!
wednesday morning, jon's parents took the big girls & it was the perfect opportunity to pull everything together. if you remember back to my post from when i potty trained lucy [january/february 2015], she was a super quick learner & made potty training as easy as it could have been with an 8 month old baby sister :)
when eloise woke up from nap wednesday, we started the process. i knew that my sister & her family were coming in town the following evening, but i was naive in thinking that because lucy only took a day, eloise would only take a day & that we'd be able to leave the house for outings. lucy was 5 months older than eloise currently is & although we did leave the house within a couple days of her learning to use the potty, we still primarily stayed around the house for a week or so afterwards.
eloise had some initial success on wednesday afternoon & thursday morning, but i soon realized that i needed to wait until i could devote all of my attention to the process! we picked up again yesterday as soon as we got home from lucy's gymnastics class, and honestly, i think the introduction last week has helped us a ton. we are 1.5 days into the 3 day potty training method & as of today at nap, eloise had more successes than accidents this morning! she actually only had 1 accident & her successes were all initiated by herself! the 3 day method involves having the timer set for every 15 minutes- YES, every 15 minutes of waking hours for 3 days, your toddler marches to the potty to attempt & go. it's brutal. & it's working! we're halfway there.......... & subsequently, i think my el is finished nursing :( my mom says i potty trained & weaned all within the same week, too. this is about the length of time i nursed lucy. i didn't offer to nurse before nap yesterday, as i didn't want to add to her fluid intake before sleeping & she did ok with it! this was the first time in her entire life that i haven't nursed her before nap [if i'm the one to put her down]. bedtime went well last night & then nap again today. babies don't keep...
we're doing a combo of the little pink potty seat & the big toilet so that she can get used to both. the little potty is nice because it can follow us around for when we gotta go quick! planning to hang around the house for the next few days before venturing out. jon's taking a vacation day friday [yay!], so we'll see where we're at with whether or not a family outing is a smart + brave idea :)
a whole new level of nutty is a pantless potty training toddler, a nursing baby & a fancy dancing preschooler... all in one house with only one mama to attend to their needs! :)
eloise & lucy had so much fun at gmom's & gdad's playing in daddy + gdad's yellow blazer! we're excited to have it at the house this summer. jon & his dad have been working hard on restoring the inside & it looks awesome.
& we had the best cousin weekend.

eloise wore big girl panties to the zoo! we did have a little accident, but not bad for only a day of potty training beforehand!
me, after extreme anxiety about eloise's panty situation at the zoo, with all 3 sleeping in the back of the car, waiting in line at starbucks. practically a vacation. ahhhhh-
& the best part of the trip was these wild & crazy kids having a bed jumping party upstairs at meme's!
saturday we had lunch at fritz's railroad restaurant followed by science city & union station- so fun!

lucy's dance recital costume was delivered to her class over the weekend! we are so excited for her performance- of course it falls on eloise's 2nd birthday! the life of the middle sister. the recital is downtown at the music hall where jon & i had out wedding reception :) we ordered box seats, so eloise can get up & dance & i can nurse all in private. & that's how you handle a 6pm recital downtown when there are younger siblings involved :)
so happy that summer is nearly upon us!
