this week goes down as one of the most meaningful and memorable. it started with lucy and eloise attending their first sleep-away camp. betsy stayed with meme for her annual "meme camp", and while jon and i had plans to head to the lake for a few days, we diverted in major need of a staycation with as go go go as we've been since the beginning of may. all the girls had an a b s o l u t e b l a s t with betsy holding the title of "thrift store queen", eloise coming away as a major horseback riding fan, and lucy loving all things associated with independence.
and we were so happy to get them back!!
we jetted to visit the most special gramma in the blue ridge mountains the day after the girls got home.
gramma has had the dream of watching her great-grandkids play in the same branch (creek) that she swam and caught minnows in as a little girl. her daddy built this farmhouse when she was a few years old, and she remembers losing her birthday nickel in the floorboards on the day she turned 7. we visited grannie's and heard stories of gramma and her siblings' and cousins' childhood summers spent damming up the branch for a pool to swim in while cooling off from the virginia country heat after all the grueling chores that farmlife brought.
a complete circle of a day... and a life.
and now we head into july, lovingly dubbed "annie month" in our home this year :)
xoxo,
