covid19- week 41 MERRY CHRISTMAS!

moving into our home just in time for christmas was, admittedly, a little anxiety-provoking for my type A self. having now lived through it, i give it a 10/10- definitely the way to put the finishing touches on making a house your home.

i've written in the past about eloise's migraines- they're debilitating and usually provoked by too much excitement alongside sugar and lack of sleep. kind of the perfect christmas storm. combined with the move all within the month of december, we weren't shocked when she woke up christmas morning with a migraine that persisted for 8.5 hours. she was in terrible shape- it's awful to see your child in so much pain. really, it's a lot like an out-of-body experience. jon suffered from these same migraines as a kid, so while it's genetic, we pray that she's able to grow out of hers like her dad was able to. lucy and betsy were so concerned for their sister, and were such troopers while we waited for her headache to let up enough to open gifts.

several steam showers and motrin doses later, the girls were just beside themselves with their surprises. what's more fun than your child's excitement to discover gifts from santa!? all was well until betsy's pet walking and barking dog that she's been asking for since october broke within 30 minutes of snuggles. the floodgates opened for both bea and me. i was laugh-crying in hysterics. jon was trying to rip open the animal in an attempt to find the missing plug that somehow got detached, and after close to an hour of betsy wailing that she was "just gonna wait 'til next christmas to ask for another puppy", we agreed that santa has a policy with amazon for broken toys, and a new walking and barking dog would be arriving with 2 day prime shipping.

over christmas night cocktails, we concurred that our first christmas here is one we'll never forget.

our week leading up to christmas was filled with the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, daily makeovers by betsy, 1:1 time with these precious girls and putting the finishes touches on our outdoor hideaway- string lights! the closest we got to exterior lights this christmas :)

counting my lucky stars for another winter week at home with my girls!!

covid19- week 40

the absolute best news of this week is the beginning of the covid vaccine roll out! front line medical workers lined up to receive their first dose of the pfizer vaccine- auntie amy and aunt alli included. the hope in this news is immeasurable. we have such profound gratitude for the scientists and donars who have worked tirelessly to create this new future. between vaccinations and herd immunity, we're hopeful for a maskless future where we can all safely be together again much sooner than later.

we had such a festive week! we zoomed with santa, delivered cookies, had red & green waffles for dinner by request, built gingerbread houses, drove to look at light displays, watched our favorite christmas movies & drank hot cocoa at least once per day :) jon's been perfecting his christmas cocktails each evening, and the girls wrapped up their fall semester with in-person, masked school and dance with zero shut downs

we've had so much fun pulling together the details of our house. the furniture building is continuous and we have constant deliveries, but we're definitely feeling settled and excited for christmas!! we're hoping for a snowy winter filled with sledding on the golf course, and look forward to warmer days of walking to the club for dining and sunsets. 2020 left us raw and confused and devastated, but from the lowest times in our lives, we have the opportunity to reset and come out better humans on the other side. breathing in the moments, prioritizing our values and choosing our happiness are our greatest takeaways.

and now we're beyond ready to fill this house with our people!

it's christmas week and we are so ready for peace on earth and peace in our hearts as we welcome baby Jesus.
