anna maria island

a visit to sleepy anna maria island to celebrate 13 years of our marriage. i'm officially obsessed with vegan coconut ice cream, i devoured jennifer grey's autobiography in less than 2 days, prosecco is best enjoyed with lunch saving my favorite pinot noir for evening, and we have a new special spot. anna maria feels less commercialized than our other frequented beachy towns are seeming to become... it's unassuming with colorful, low-key bungalows and not too populated beaches and restaurants. we had shrimp, mahi mahi, grouper and lobster. more sunscreen and less phone screen was our vacay motto. we will definitely be back... soon and often!

meme held down the fort driving the girls to dance, a birthday party, a pool party, and a matilda get-together. she also helped betsy to finish her required summer math book [which both of her sisters finished in may], so she officially deserves all the wine + 1 million dollars.

the day lucy was cast as amanda in matilda, my sister booked front and center seats. friday night as she and her boys were getting ready to board their flight from denver to kansas city due to land at midnight (she had had a full workday seeing patients), it was, of course, delayed. without hesitation, she loaded everybody up and they drove the 8 hours overnight. i had a dream last week that i was drowning, and i threw my sister a spool of yarn to save me. she started braiding it into a friendship bracelet and i made it out.

final 2 shows today! i have a feeling a major show let down is in someone's future. maybe for meme, who didn't miss even one performance, as much as for lucy! 

thankfully jon and i get to escape to florida this week :)
