lucy's 10 year trip with her dad to dc was a total success! she picked the city and the itinerary, which they've been planning for months. her last trip with jon was to chicago for her 5th birthday, and her last of the birthday trilogy trips is when she turns 16. jon's only rules for her sweet sixteen is that it has to be international + a place our family hasn't traveled before. i absolutely love being on the receiving end of these trips... getting giddy phone calls and facetimes. the best!!
they kicked off their visit with a much anticipated trip to the white house. jon had to request the tour 6 months in advance, and he got word in august that they were in!

as a fellow true crime junkie like her mom, lucy's must-do list included the ford's theatre where lincoln was shot. she was so fascinated to see "THE chair he was shot in" but she made sure i knew he didn't actually die there, but across the street (which she also visited:)
the most exciting facetime to tell me her dad surprised her with hamilton tickets!!
her most favorite pasttime - pounding a hotel breakfast
capital tour ... which was also booked months in advance. she loved seeing where kamala harris "actually sits!'
and the crowning jewel - taking in hamilton after a trip to see the original constitution...
thirteen octobers apart, with the same man behind the camera-
and meanwhile back at the the ranch...
