whew. blogging is becoming increasingly trickier as the girls get busier & the weather gets nicer. i've pretty much settled on the only real time i have to sit down & go through photos being when jon is traveling & evenings are quiet once the girls have gone to sleep.
it's been a wild couple of weeks with eloise teething out the WAZOO! lucy was the least dramatic teether ever, so this is all new to us. my good friend kim's dentist-husband says that teething can be especially uncomfortable for late bloomers, and considering lucy had 8 teeth at this point, i'm classifying eloise as a definite late bloomer.
a beautiful march afternoon at the park earlier this month-
my sweet baby spent several days in a row curled up in the sling a couple weeks ago. right as her bottom left tooth started to come in, she had several extra sad days of discomfort-
we were so fortunate to get to spend a few days with my brother who visited from denver a couple weeks ago. he spent this past fall studying yoga in india & it was so nice for all of us to get to spend some quality time with him now that he's back state-side. lucy is especially fond of uncle matt :)

an 80 degree spring afternoon lifted sweet e's spirits-
happy st.patrick's day!
my mom helped me to whip up my first corn beef & cabbage in celebration- i'd say the girls enjoyed it most :) they seriously have the most interesting taste in foods for little girls!
to mark lucy's 2.5 year birthday, i asked her a series of questions & wrote down verbatim her responses- i about died.

fun with aunt alli last sunday-
i've started using jon's "nice" camera here & there as we start to look for a new camera for me- such an upgrade from the phone pictures that are my usual!
lucy's library selections last week :) her latest obsession is strawberry shortcake-
happy 30 month birthday to my lucy-lu-who, who told me, "mommy, i don't wanna build a snowman with elsa & anna. i wanna build a snowman with YOU, mommy!" she makes me swoon [most of the time] :)
easter egg crafting-
hiding her eyes while i hid easter eggs-
because seriously all we've really done for weeks now is have easter egg hunts. about 50 per day...
my eloise amy turned 10 months new! how is this possible?!?!?
eloise says "mama" "dada" [as in, is actually calling us mama & dada!], "uh-oh" [she'll purposefully drop something from her high-chair then say "uh-oh!"], "buh-buh" [bye-bye, ball, & bubbles all sound the same!] lucy didn't have 6 words until after a year, but had taken off walking at this point. eloise has just started walking while pushing her push-toys, and is pulling to a stand on everything. there have been a couple of times that she's [unsuccessfully] tried to balance :) she's sleeping as great as can be expected with the teething & has started to show that she has strong opinions. if she has a toy & sees lucy coming for it from across the room, she literally starts sqwaking LOUDLY. & of course, whatever toy either girl has is all of a sudden the most important toy to hold in the whole entire house. i look at eloise & my heart just swells with love for this sweet-spirited, feisty little package of a girl whom i so fortunately get to be mommy to!
jon finished the basement bunks this past weekend! although we do still need guard-rails & a ladder. i guess safety is kinda important-
saturday night, my mom came over once the girls had gone to bed & jon & i went out on our first "real" date since the night i went into labor with eloise! he took me to the rieger hotel grill & exchange restaurant downtown & ohmygosh it was way too good. it was so nice to unplug & have uninterrupted conversation with my husband! my mom had about the easiest baby-sitting gig ever, and i feel so refreshed after just a few hours out with jon... & wine :)

with the creepy bunny that neither girl knew what to make of- although lucy has been very curious about where the easter bunny's house is since this introduction :)
& today we had such a FUN day! we spent the morning at the community center during their open-gym time. the girls love going to this! & we finished the day with a lunch & park date- which included a bathroom break at lunch in which i literally wheeled eloise's highchair into the bathroom stall. because what else am i supposed to do when my toddler needs help climbing up onto the huge restaurant toilet & i'm by myself? but don't worry- it only got better at the park when, again, the need arose for lu & the only available toilet was a johnny-on-the-spot [maybe the city will get with the program & realize they need to open their park restrooms which are still "closed for the winter"] as i stood there holding lucy on the porta-potty seat with my leg propping open the door so i could keep my eye on eloise, who was strapped in the stroller that tied down charlie's leash, i thought-
motherhood is so glamourous.
& this may go down as lucy's most favorite day ever. she scored some new glass slippers :)
she & my mom played cinderella for a good solid hour tonight. lucy would kick off a shoe, then gasp that she lost her glass slipper. my mom would then act like the prince's footmen, and go around the kitchen trying the shoe on all of us- charlie included. alas, it only fit lucy's perfect little foot. again... & again... & again...
& for the road- lucy's new tap shoes :) [blue sticker for larry left...]
& my old ones :) we practiced all she learned in her new tap class last week. although most of that class was spent with her holding onto me for dear life because that's my lucy. dramatic & weary of change- in other words, she's very much my daughter.
fingers crossed this week is a success :)
