it's been either super HOT or super rainy, making it easy peasy to have several lazy days where we just relax, spend time together & i make an attempt to keep my house pulled-together :)
my friend, laura [also lucy's swim instructor], is a wonderful seamstress & has started making baby/kids headbands to help fund a mission trip she's taking next summer. she asked the girls to "model" for her website, so here are a couple shots of the girls showing off their new darling bows :)
swim last week- these private lessons have been the absolute best way to go!
my friend sara's sweet boy, bryant, had his first birthday party last weekend- bug hunt theme! so lu made him a bumblebee card for the occasion :)
& followed it with a mani/pedi by daddy :) i never thought jon would stay home & paint his daughter's nails on a friday night :)
our caterpillars arrived & we have been watching them eagerly each day as they start to form cocoons!
what a lady-
i haven't worn eloise in the moby this hot summer, but lucy has insisted on pulling hers back out after seeing newborn milo so snuggly in his last week :) [lucy's become attached to this cinderella babydoll in the last few weeks- joins us everywhere we go, eats what we eat, gets strapped in the car, goes potty...]
sunday night, my mom & i brought lucy to theatre in the park for her first time to see annie warbucks. such a sweet show & lucy loved it! she got up & danced, swooned over the orphans & just keeps talking about "nannie" :) jon & i met at theatre in the park when we were 15- 13 years ago tonight!
& today was our last day of swim for the summer- next year lucy & eloise get to share ms laura :)
such a trooper through all of sister's lessons :) she actually loves taking in all the action around her! she's a busy gal :)
my mom is visiting amy & fam for the week, and jon's going to the royals game with patrick tonight [best man in our wedding, eloise's Godfather], so the girls & i are heading to the library when eloise wakes up from nap, followed by dinner. i never thought i'd be able to take a 1 & 2 year old out to meals on my own :) so proud of these awesome girls & their sweet manners. eloise is definitely proving to be much feistier than her big sister, but both light up the room & are as delightful as can be [most of the time...!] i think about where we were a year ago, and we've come so far as a little family. everyone sleeps [although both my girls are overall just loud sleepers- always have been!], everyone walks [yes, eloise has finally really taken off!], everyone talks. where does the time go!?
jon & i have our 6th [!!!] wedding anniversary coming up on august 1! we're doing dinner downtown & my mom will hold down the fort at home [we always go out after we've gotten the girls down- still just easier with both so young!] & as a sidetone, lucy completely LOVED her sleepover at meme's! they popped popcorn, watched thumbelina, frosted pink cupcakes, had a tea party "with LOTS of sugar & dollies!" & lucy didn't want to leave the next morning! meanwhile, eloise thoroughly enjoyed the house to herself for the first time in her recent memory :)
looking forward to the weekend ahead- we're doing a family saturday with the pool, sprinklers, ice cream run & catching fireflies in mason jars. summer with little ones is the best!
