jon & i were so so fortunate to enjoy a whirlwind getaway to the big easy. our time was cut short by tropical storm claudette, BUT every single minute of our new orleans leisure was thoroughly fabulous! the culture, the amazing history, the people, the food, the music scene. what a place.
we museumed, ate all the spices, drank all the fun southern cocktails and stayed at the most charming 1800s mansion turned quaint hotel. i really didn't want to leave!
the last day, we were warned about the impending storm, and not wanting to risk all flights getting grounded, we did what any childless parents would do and got a couple's massage before trying multiple flights and finally switching airlines to get out just before the storm hit. we landed late in kansas city, but went to our favorite small town near home and listened to live music at o'malley's in weston before getting to bed far too late and with far too much wine in my system. we slept in, brunched and picked up our little ladies for a very happy reunion.
and it's back to life, back to reality...
meme, gmom and gdad split childcare duties including dance runs, late-night rehearsals, swimming and ice cream dates. grandparents are one of life's greatest blessings.
