it's been an interesting week thus far in the dandurand household-

jon left town monday morning for the week [the worst!] he had to leave the house at 5am to catch his flight & between betsy & eloise, the 2 of us had practically been up all night. eloise was inconsolable much of monday before it occurred to me that she was coming down with a cold. prior to this, i had spent much of the day feeling defeated as to why she was acting so completely irrational :) no wonder she had been up more than half the night & couldn't keep her emotions in check! betsy must have caught the beginnings of the bug, too.

monday overnight was equally terrible- i was up solo 6 times between the babies & eloise was awake at 6am on the dot tuesday morning. i felt like i had been hit by a truck, and by 8am i realized that i was in the beginning stages of mastitis- a breast infection that i have had once before during my 4 years of nursing [when i weaned lucy when eloise was 4 months old, i had a mild case that i was able to nurse through]. this time around, i'm certain it developed because betsy A] does long night stretches [much longer than either of my other girls did at this age] & B] is really enjoying eating solids- enough so that she's cut back slightly on her milk intake.

thankfully, i was able to get a prescription by yesterday afternoon, but not before i spent the entire day letting the girls watch movies in their jammies while my flu-like symptoms & i took a backseat. ain't no mama got time for that! i feel like a new woman today now that the antibiotics have kicked in & betsy is back to normal sleeping. i can handle 1 sick kid. i cannot handle 2 + me! :)
