favorite lucyisms as of late-

--> "otay otay, you're right..." when i ask her to do something like share with her sister or brush her teeth 

--> "when i get big like you..." followed by her rattling off all the things she plans to do like use knives & eat protein bars :) 

--> she woke up in the middle of the night from a bad dream & as i tucked her back in she said, "daddy's protecting me!" i thought it was so sweet & when i climbed back into bed & told jon he said, "oh yeah. she thinks i'm standing outside, guarding her bedroom door" - this is apparently a lucy/daddy thing i had no idea about & it completely melts me

--> this morning before the library she said to me, "i can't go to the library like this!" referring to the fact that she was still in her pajamas :)

& miss eloise-

--> everything is "that please" ... she says it all day long when she sees something she wants, although her vocabulary is absolutely exploding right now & she surprises me each day with new words & concepts she's learning- so so so fun!

--> she is completely obsessed with hummus- she would spoon-feed herself an entire jar per meal if i allowed it! & she says "mummus" meaning "more hummus" almost as often as she says "that please" throughout the day

--> & she's still so in love with babies. i've written about it before, but lucy just in the last few months has really become attached to hers. we think that maybe because eloise sees lucy always carrying around her babydolls, she's decided she needs to too. whatever the reason, she always has "baby" with her & absolutely won't sleep without her. today at the library, she saw a real live newborn baby & kept pointing & squealing "baaaby!" *sigh...* eloise is still my baby! i remember the first time lucy saw a picture of herself as a baby & she asked who that baby was- it still tugs at my mama heart!

mommy/daughters date at the farmstead-

lu fed the ducks for a solid 20 minutes & would have happily continued if eloise wasn't itching to move on- i loved seeing her excitement & hearing her squeals!

pumpkin muffin baking to welcome september-

she's insisting that both her babies ride in the moby these days :)

a morning date at gmom & gdad's- lucy loved getting to pick cherry tomatoes & both girls loved eating them :)

apple tree crafting in preparation for the orchard-

we figured out that the only way eloise will keep a bib on is if it has a picture of minnie mouse on it... so what do you do? immediately log onto amazon & buy a pack of sturdy plastic minnie bibs :)

eloise & eloise- both mischievous, endearing & so lovable! we couldn't have picked a more appropriate namesake for this fancy gal :)

putting on a dinosaur puppet show for eloise & me at the library- such a doll!

i asked lu if she would help me bake a second round of pumpkin muffins to freeze [this time from scratch rather than a mix], but she was much more interested in baking her own muffins in her own kitchen. so i immediately brought her kitchen up from the basement & we happily baked along-side one another :)

movie night! lucy got to stay up late & watch the land before time with jon & me in honor of her dinosaur puppet show :)

the apple orchard was an absolute blast! both girls loved it- it's just a few miles from our house & we will definitely be headed back! jon's started looking into planting our own apple trees- it's actually a bit of a complicated process because you need a tree to pollinate the apple tree. we're itching to have a little bit of land down the road & i think it would be super fun to have our own little orchard. jon's newest thing is that he wants a chicken coop- we'll see where we are in 10 years or so :)

super fun swim party with neighbors over the weekend-

red, white & blue labor day shenanigans!

eloise kept looking back in an attempt to get me to chase her- this went on at least 50x :) she'd climb up the stairs & start running, i'd grab her & put her back at the bottom of the steps, she'd giggle & start climbing again :)

storytime at the library is back in session for the school year- 

& the house is fancied up in fall decor- let's all just admit that trying to get the house decorated with kids around is one big fat messy joke!

 

making apple prints- no pictures of eloise during her project because it required 2 full sets of helping hands- mama's & lucy's!

& a little trip to the sunflower field that everyone & their mom has visited over the past couple weeks- truly magnificent [although lucy could have done without the mud... she is so my daughter. when did that happen?] growing up in kansas, i've always loved sunflowers. what kansas kid doesn't!? sunflowers were the flowers in our wedding & i actually won a contest in second grade naming the new local elementary school- sunflower elementary :) jon & i grew a few tall sunflowers at our old house, which are pictured & framed in lucy's room. they're like sunshine on a stick & i've never seen ones quite this large & plentiful!

19 weeks as of monday! baby is the size of a grapefruit. i've started ordering small things here & there for her & am swooning over teensy bonnets & baby gowns. we're going to start getting the rooms ready in the next month or so [after lucy's birthday]- i'm definitely excited about making progress on those projects! i've been checking my sugars & unfortunately the gestational diabetes is slooowly creeping up, but i'm still able to eat fruits & other foods that i'm sure are going to be an issue in a few weeks. as much as i am enjoying this pregnancy [kicks, a round tummy, the anticipation & excitement of meeting our third daughter!], i am definitely looking forward to a coke & a cookie pretty much the second after i deliver :) oh & a glass of rose not too long after that :)
