and a deeply sad time. my lifelong love, dolly, passed on. her ability to stay real and connected to her appalachian roots was especially meaningful to me, as a first generation non-appalachian whose most amazing childhood memories took place in those mountains. she was truly one of one, yet so relatable to the masses.
