here we are- 8 days until lucy and eloise are back to school. what a crazy time for our world, and more specifically speaking to our current life season, what a crazy time to parent school-aged children. we've known and said all along that sending our girls back to school in-person is the right decision for their mental and emotional health. we've weighed it with the known risks of covid and know that for us, this is right choice. because our children are in a private school, the rules for returning to school are different than our local public schools. while there are no field trips, school events or parents allowed in the school, we do return full-time, 5 days a week. they'll wear masks [thankfully they've had hours upon hours of mask-wearing practice in dance classes this summer] and of course there are many safety precautions in place. but they're going back. and it's weird. and i feel sea-sick over it all. but it's all happening. and all i know is that i have 8 more days to soak up what's ended up being the most memorable, laid-back, old-school summer. betsy begins her last year of preschool after labor day, and it's a class filled with siblings of lucy and eloise's classmates in the same lovely 4 year old classroom both older girls attended.
never could i have dreamed up today's circumstances. but here we are, living this life with all the curveballs and craziness and uncertainty. and we're praying for a vaccine for the masses. and we are here for it.
the girls costumes are about a year away from full-on taking over my closet!
jon's kitchen renovation: a labor of love and a very covid project-
making gramma's strawberry jam with meme- although i wanted to substitute sugar with monkfruit sugar and now i'm not sure it's going to actually gel up so we may have created more of a strawberry sauce ;)
we have a week of sunshine & pooltime ahead, and i'm taking it all in.
ok maybe not the catfights, but everything else. bring it.
