happy labor day weekend!

we're grateful for a much needed break from the grind of the first 3 weeks of school! getting everyone ready & strapped in the car by 715 is no joking matter. eloise & betsy are thankful for the days jon doesn't have to be in the office too early & he's able to bring lucy to school on his way to work. considering eloise moves at sloth speed upon waking up, i'm super appreciative of these mornings, too ;) we live 15 minutes from school & have quickly realized it's a trek- especially with eloise starting half-day preschool MWF mornings, i'll be up there 3x/day, equaling so much car time. lucy's school day starts 45 minutes before eloise's, so the little coffeeshop in old town is our new best friend on these mornings. case in point, we want to move closer to school. our school is k-8, and we have 12 years before betsy is in high school.

our parish & school are rich in history, with the school first opening its doors in the fall of 1912 by two sisters- sister lucina and sister simplicia. a couple of the original stone buildings remain on campus, along with a handful of homes in the neighborhood directly surrounding the school, built in the early 1900's. our hope is to purchase & renovate one of these 100 year old homes within walking distance of holy trinity & old town, a quaint section of our city, born in 1869. i'll chronicle our "100 year old home" adventures here, as we're in the beginning phases of our plans [!!!]

mornings are especially exciting when lucy chooses particularly involved hairstyles at 645am ;)

the second week of school, lu was beside herself to learn there's a school library! we've been going to our community library every week since lucy was 2, and this really was a super exciting discovery that she couldn't wait to tell us upon pickup! her first library selection was a golfing book- daddy was so proud :)

surprising her at lunch! this was the one time she wanted to try "hot lunch"- she's brought her own lunch without fail everyday since ;)

eloise had "meet the teacher" & is so, so proud to be in the same class with the same teacher that lucy was in last year. this is the second year in a row we've followed this pattern :)

the little girls & i have been keeping our days busy with shopping trips, coffeeshop dates & lots of cat-fights between middle & little...

for the long holiday weekend, each of the girls chose an outing! eloise has been begging to go to union station, so yesterday jon took the girls to crown center for lunch & union station for a 'science city' day, while i got to have a solo target run & quiet house for a few hours :)
