welcome 2015!

we've had a pretty low-key last few days since christmas, into the new year. 

lucy's spent quite a bit of time in her jump house that santa brought the girls for christmas! it fits in the back corner of our basement, and is great for indoors & out! this will be perfect for birthday parties and cold kansas winter days when we have some serious energy to bounce out :)

our new appliances are in in the kitchen- what a difference! our backsplash renovation is at the end of this week, and next week our fireplace stone is getting switched out. we've lived in the house for 10 months & ever slow slowly, we're turning it into our home. we love this space & neighborhood so much, and plan to stay put for many, many, many years :) our pipe dream is to stay in place, and to buy a second home in either charleston or the florida panhandle for our kids and their families to spend time at throughout the years. 

my favorite feature with this new fridge is the hot water dispenser- jon & i have totally upped our hot chocolate & hot tea intake :) it's awesome for pour-over coffee, too! this screen is also a digital picture frame that slideshows through 90 photos. is that not crazy?

our new bedroom furniture was delivered- quite the upgrade from jon's seventh grade bedroom furniture set we've always had :) [to our defense, it was pretty & solid stuff!] new bedroom furniture has continuously been pushed further down the totem-pole. we've been through 2 states, 2 apartments, 2 houses, 2 daughters, 3 master's degrees & a dog since we were married 5.5 years ago. it was time. 

it was probably not the best time, though, for jon to be drilling for a curtain rod at 10pm as lucy slept one room over.

2015 is the year of home improvements. new garage doors are next, and the exterior of the house will be painted in april. whew!

eloise somehow turned 7 months new on the 28th! she's the peachiest peach.

we spent new year's day de-glittering, un-pine needling & deep cleaning. so nice when the job is complete & we're able to start the new year fresh!

lucy & eloise had a super fun saturday watching daddy & g-dad do lots of work on the basement bunks!

i am SO excited about these! the goal is for them to be done before jon's golf trip in march. the frames are built- next up is ply wood, paint [dark grey], molding [cream], a built-in desk, mattresses, bedding. there will be 2 bunks above + a little loft, and under is the third bunk + a sitting space & a fold out desk area. we'll go to ikea to pick out our mattresses, bedding, lighting & chairs for the desk, and big pillows for the loft & sitting space. i can't wait to post the progress!
