migraines, and sick days, and tongue ties oh my!

'tis the season for weather related sickness [betsy's spent the past 2 days home from school], eloise has had a couple of gnarly migraines, and one of the greatest gifts to come out of my career in lactation studies is realizing that eloise has been living with a tongue tie her entire 9 years on earth! we met with the pediatric dental surgeon, and her procedure to have her posterior tie released is scheduled for next month. there's a correlation between migraines and tongue ties, as well as speech concerns, which makes sense, as eloise still cannot fully say the letter R in her words. we're super anxious to have this little surgery complete, and hoping for sunnier days ahead for her!

lucy and betsy kicked off their halloween season with a full weekend of shows around kansas city. always fun to see them having such a ball with their friends on and off stage!

looking forward to a weekend of swim team, a manhattan trip for the game [jon's taking the girls and i get a night at home alone!], and birthday parties! 

we're definitely in the thick of this busy season of life :)

this was lucy's week and the rest of us were just living in it. 

up first was the premiere of the documentary she was a part of on the topic of youth pressures and mental health which filmed last spring.

eloise had her costume fitting for clara's dream and her smile literally could not have been bigger!

dress rehearsal for a whirlwind of halloween performances the next few weekends ...

ready for her bestie to head over and work on their science project. she had everything just so :)

end of first quarter celebration!

and in the absolute highlight core memory of her life thus far, jon surprised lucy with chiefs tickets! she's been asking to go to a game for months (or longer?:) this girl loves football and can tell you what's going on at any point in the game. she has her favorite players and follows them year after year. i think she may have a future in sports broadcast journalism! her joy was palpable, and as a (major) bonus... she got to see taylor swift sitting up in the friends and family suite!

hilariously i asked what she thought of the cheerleaders given they're more of a dance team and she spends most of her free time at the dance studio. she was so unimpressed and went right back to talking about who scored/fumbled/tackled/whatever else football players do. 

badass.

this is what eleven looks like in 2023-

a little bit of childhood, a lotta taylor swift, and some 1970's hippie hair vibes to top off the whole beautiful package. 

and there's this amazing 9 year old who continues to be her authentic, precious self-

the girls had their annual clara's dream christmas ballet audition. it is THE best having them all so excited to do this together!! betsy is in her final year of "angels", which lucy began in first grade, and has worked her way up through being both a girl and a boy in the party scene. eloise was an angel, followed by a year as the ukrianian boy in the party scene. 

they're so excited to learn this year's casting!

october first, and as anne of green gables shares, "i'm so happy i live in a world where there are octobers". 

there really is nothing like autumn in the midwest.
