we did it! after disney closing the night before our trip in march 2020, our family finally voyaged down to disneyworld to watch lucy perform in disney springs with her dance troupe! lucy and i left early early sunday, and jon joined with our other girls starting tuesday. never had i ever set an alarm for 1:00am to rise and shine for the day prior to this trip, but with springing forward due to daylight savings [hate it], our uber driver picked us up at 3:20 for our 5am flight, and because the clock changes at 2 in the morning, 1:00 it was [that math really hurts my head].
i was so proud of the 2 of us- ready on time, navigating the airports, shuttles and carousels, and ubering to our resort. we had the resort hold our luggage while our room was being prepared, and together we ventured onto the skyliner and down to the disney boardwalk for breakfast and shopping. we make a pretty special team!
lucy was so so excited to decorate our window as a part of 'dance the mouse house'. she picked streamers and twinkly lights for a magical touch :)
casually strolling to pick up my wine delivery our first night there. nothing quite like a bota box to get you through a week at disney.
lucy and i had such a fun monday morning! we had a 'fancy' breakfast, a stroll around the grand floridian and polynesian followed by a spa treatment. lucy chose her first french manicure complete with glitter, and a crown given to the 'princess of the day' by the 'cast members'. she was such a good sport- she loved it, but told me later that she only did the princess wave because they told her she should ;) such a tween... in-between little girl and the teenage years! love her.
she spent loads of time in the pool with friends [she was happy her nails didn't chip!], and was so excited [and nervous!] to be a part of the disney kids dance workshop-
they danced for 4 hours, learning 2 numbers from a dancer whose been with disney since 2005, was on the directing team of the descendants and is currently in the cast of beauty and the beast at wdw. lucy's favorite part was performing the dances they learned at the end of the night :)
we spent the next day hitting our favorite places- target and starbucks- and transferring to a different hotel in anticipation of our people joining. we were so antsy to see them!
we got lucy ready for her show, and it was finally here! it was a super cool thing seeing such a big crowd watch these hardworking dancers take the stage in disney. they were on fire... and so was i after that overpriced margarita i drank screaming from the front row!
we celebrated with wine, tapas and some of our favorites!
our park days were fun- definitely memorable and seeing the joy in special moments with the kids was everything.
this all being said- the spring break crowds were insane, and our girls were truly equally happy to swim in our hotel's pool for hours. we've realized while we love rollercoasters and have a ton of fun at theme parks with the girls, more low-key less-commercialized parks are more our style.
it was a special week that calls for a vacation :)
