covid19- week 22

we're closing in on the last 2 weeks of summer break. i feel the transition back to school, a new dance year & soccer, but our country is still very much in a health crisis. it's a weird, uneasy time, but we continue to find the small joys that i know we'll look back on as the big moments in a dark time. the girls' dance recital is this sunday- the recital that was originally set for memorial day weekend. they are over the moon excited, and i'm hoping for an uneventful, fun experience for all. jon's in the middle of a kitchen renovation over here, which has actually been great. he needed a creative project, and we've been wanting to make some changes since we bought this house 6.5 years ago! we still have other house plans in the works, but for the time being, this has been an exciting little summer venture for this home. we've been focusing our energy on the chinese proverb-

"the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. the second best time is now."

covid19- week 21

we had a week full of celebrating birthdays [auntie amy on 8/2 and madden on 8/3], the dentist [always so exciting!], swimming and dress rehearsals for the girls' recital next weekend [outdoors, in masks, 6ft apart!] i love being their mama- even when they fight 90% of the day [may be a lowball estimate]. my sweet summer sunshines <3

covid19- week 20 year 11!

this week brought wrapping up summer dance, cooler temps, lots of rain, and celebrating eleven years of marriage! jon mentioned today that with august here, it feels like summer's end is near. our city pool no longer has weekday daytime hours [we are so sad about this!], and the girls' end of summer recital is just around the corner. lucy & eloise are anxious to learn their school classroom placements, and we're continuing to monitor covid numbers in our county, which will determine whether or not our school actually opens for in-person learning on august 31.

for our anniversary, meme stayed with the girls and jon & i had the most fun evening at a new resort-style inn in town. i drank too much wine and actually relaxed for the first time in what feels like forever. so many tough life decisions happening around us and it was so nice to realign our priorities <3
