october vibes

we are completely loving fall around here. not much better than cool weather, cozy coordinates, all things pumpkin & happy girls-

lucy taught eloise "stop. gooo! stop. gooo!" which she ordered on our walk to the park the other morning :) & side note, eloise has become a total cuddle bug lately! she was the snuggliest baby, then had a few months there where she was way too busy to stop & snuggle mom & dad. her new thing is to run off & play, then come back to check in for some love before running off again :) such a peach. 

shopping for lucy's new bedroom set- she's getting bunks! eloise wasn't too impressed :) we opted for bunk beds, thinking down the road if we grow our family, 2 of our kids will be sharing a room. my friends who shared bedrooms with siblings growing up talk about the extra special bond they have because of it <3

we spent the morning at GG's [jon's grandmother]- lucy so enjoyed picking tomatoes & eating them straight out of the baggy :)

both girls took an hour & a half nap on the drive to the pumpkin patch- jon & i picked up some coffee & it was absolute parental bliss! we couldn't have picked a more perfect autumn afternoon for the patch & we're thinking [because i'm a planner...] we're going to host lucy's birthday party at this pumpkin patch next year!

today was the best. lucy's cozied up in front of hocus pocus, eloise is running around munching on apple slices & we're looking forward to chili & cornbread in our near future :)

we're having such a nice, relaxing fall week around here. jon returned home from a work trip last night & we were all more grateful than ever to have him home! the weather is finally cool & we're looking forward to the weekend with him, as next weekend the girls & i are visiting my gramma in the blue ridge mountains of virginia with meme, auntie amy & cousins. i'll be 23 weeks pregnant & flying solo with both my girls. where's the wine when you need it? we have a layover in atlanta, followed by a 2 hour drive from charlotte. we'll meet my mom & amy in charlotte for the caravan. prayers, prayers & more prayers for this mama please! 

monday the girls & i headed back to the farmstead for their annual pumpkin hollow. it was such fun! we're excited to hit up another pumpkin patch with daddy on sunday :) 

first we made a pit-stop at the lee ann britain center to donate the books lucy's birthday guests donated at her party- a pretty proud 3 year old!

& we went home & made a salt dough pumpkin with impressions of lucy's hand & eloise's little foot. i'll look forward to displaying this each halloween :)

today is laundry day, although it was all done, put away & beds re-made by 11am! i'm becoming pretty darn efficient :) & thanks to the olsen twins, it's been a festive, uneventful morning-

lucy starts gymnastics class in a couple weeks. we're both so excited for this new little adventure! i'd love for her to have some basic tumbling skills in case she wants to do dance team or cheerleading. it's a toss up given my sister was a nationally ranked competitive gymnast & it took me 6 months to learn how to do a basic cartwheel :) 

while the girls & i are in virginia, we're updating our staircase with iron spindles- i think it'll make a big difference in our entryway! maybe it'll be a nice distraction from the constant coat of glitter our entire house is covered in thanks to these little girls running around :) & i'm starting to clear out the guest bedroom this weekend to make way for lucy. i cannot believe it's already october & i'm due just 4 months from today! 

eloise turned 16 months & her newest word is "tiara", she continues to surpass lucy in daily food consumption & lucy's decided that she wants to be a doctor when she grows up, as documented this morning- [i'm thinking this is prompted by eloise's new obsession with the book corduroy goes to the doctor- she's been carrying it with her everywhere & insists on sleeping with it]

a big highlight for the girls this week was our next door neighbor, ms jane, harvesting her cherry tomatoes. the girls eat them like grapes & get SO excited when she shows up on our front porch with a basket filled with tomatoes for us :)

naptime over here. i have my typical decaf pumpkin coffee & lucy's found a new place for quiet time where she's reading a princess book & says she's finding caterpillars & grasshoppers <3 i'm the luckiest!
